38 weeks 4 days

Had a case of false labor last night. I was nauseated, feeling crampy and having contractions every 12-15 minutes. This went on from 4 p.m. - almost 1 a.m. I had a rough night sleeping but nothing came of the contractions. I was still feeling nauseated and crampy this morning, but wasn't having anymore contractions.

This afternoon I had my 38 week appointment. I shared my symtoms from the night before and the midwives were very encouraged to hear of the activity. The midwife in training checked me for dilation. I was 3-4 cm and she could easily feel the baby's head. Everything felt primed and ready for labor. After discussing the findings with our midwife, Ursula, the consensus was that they would NOT be surprised if I went into labor later this week and WOULD be surprised if I make it to my visit next Wednesday.

So, we'll see. I'm still feeling lots of pressure below and random contractions, as well as the crampy feeling. We'll just have to see if it leads to something more.

On another note, Cambria wanted to try Jeff's Coke at Chili's tonight. Jeff gave her a sip out of the straw. At first she seemed to like it but then the fizz must have burned her little nose and throat because she began to spit it out. It was a funny scene.

I installed the infant car seat in the van today. Cambria was so excited and said that she will hold "Baby Sister's" hand in the car when she arrives. It really is precious to hear how she talks about her sister already.

Keep checking the site. We'll let you guys know when labor truly begins.

37 weeks 4 days

Jeff, Cambria & I went to my 37 week appointment today. Cambria was very excited about hearing Baby Sister's heartbeat again. It had been a long time since C went with me. As soon as we walked into the examination room, Cambria began telling me to lay on the table. She said, "I want to hear the baby now."

The heartbeat sounded strong...I'm measuring 38 weeks...My blood pressure was a little higher than normal for me, but it was still very good (117/80 instead of my normal105/75).

I've been trying to walk everyday. Hopefully that will help this baby come out without an induction. Today I walked 2 miles while C was in school. I'm having a little water retention now, but nothing like I had with Cambria. Lastly, I caught a cold from Cambria. I was pretty miserable on Tuesday & Wednesday but today I'm feeling much better.

I'll post a few funny pics of Cambria. She had a great week at school. On Tuesday she ate carrots during the snack time, but she wouldn't try the cucumbers. Today they had English muffin. Her teacher said that she took a bite but didn't want anymore. At least she's trying more foods even if she doesn't eat that many at home. :-)

Lastly, Jeff preached his first sermon in his preaching class today. He went into it feeling a little uncertain about the sermon material and time constraints (especially because the students are only given 10-12 minutes to preach), but came out feeling very encouraged by the input and support of his professor and classmates. I'm thrilled that he has made it through his first preaching experience at school. It's an exciting milestone!

Three weeks & two days

The purpose of this blog is to keep family & friends updated on our remaining two years in Princeton. The next big event in our lives is, of course, the birth of our second child. My due date is 3 weeks and 2 days away! It's coming fast, and I am feeling it. My hips have begun to hurt in the past couple of days and the pressure I feel below makes me think that the baby's head is completely engaged. The odd thing is that with all the extra pressure the last couple of days, I have been having very few Braxton Hicks. I can't figure out all this end-pregnancy madness.

I think that Cambria is getting a little impatient about her baby sister's arrival. Every day she asks me, "Baby Sister come out today?" She's anxious to meet her new sibling as much as Jeff & I are.

Well, that's all for now. I hope that this website will work well for all types of internet access (aka Highspeed, as well as dial-up). We will also post pictures up here as they become available.
