Wow, this month is flying by. Jeff is done with his second year at Princeton. This time next year we will be headed to a new job or in the midst of job interviews. It's exciting and scary at the same time.
We had a week at Jeff's parents' home in New Hampshire. It was a relaxing time...maybe a little more relaxing than any of us expected...it rained/spritzed the ENTIRE time we were there. We saw the sun for the first time on the morning we left. In spite of the rain, the girls thoroughly enjoyed their time with Yen-Yen & Yea-Yea, and playing with Aunt Taryn's toys. Cambria asked if we could drive by Yen-Yen's airport today. She also said, "Mom, the weather is nice today. Maybe we can go to King Kone." :-)
Avery is sitting up steadier each day. I still place pillows around, but she doesn't usually fall backwards. Instead, she is constantly reaching for toys and ending up on her stomach. She really thinks she is "hotstuff." The exersaucer is quickly becoming oldschool, and we put the bouncy seat away this weekend (mostly because we have no space). Our apartment is totally taken over by baby gear and the girls' toys...I'm trying to reclaim a small amount of space.
Cambria is going through some terrible 2s/3-to-be. She loves to say "no" in our face, slam doors, bolding do what we tell her not to do, etc. However, I have seen some improvement in the last couple of days. I've been working very hard at giving her personal attention at certain times of the day (this means a lot less email/chore time for me), being incredibly firm in my commands to her and forcing her to look me in the eye. Things aren't perfect, but she is also not blowing me off like she was last week. Parenting is definitely not a passive role.
Jeff begins his Chaplaincy internship on June 5th. It will be an intense 10 weeks, followed by the PCUSA ordination exams in late August. This is definitely not a relaxing summer for him.
More later...
